A 3-plus-season sunroom is an enclosed space with more insulation and weatherproofing than a basic screened porch, designed to stay comfortable from spring through fall and into milder winter days. It offers far more usability than an open deck without the full mechanical requirements of a four season sunroom.
The difference comes down to insulation and climate control. A four season sunroom is built with full insulation and HVAC integration so it performs year-round in any temperature. A 3-plus-season sunroom is optimised for most of the year and may need supplemental heating during the coldest months.
In most cases, yes. Building permits are typically required due to structural, electrical, and zoning regulations. During your consultation we'll walk you through what applies to your specific project and location so there are no surprises down the line.
